Adult Open Indoor Volleyball for ages 18 & over (no high school students permitted in program).  This is not a league, but a drop-in program.  Individuals interested in playing must register and pre-pay for each date, $10.00 per session, that you are interested in attending.  Day-of registration will not be accepted and there is a limited number of people permitted at each session; so once full, no more are permitted to play on that date.   Each person is required to create their own individual account (except for married couples or if parent and child live in same household).  The program is conducted at Clifton High School, 333 Colfax Avenue, on select Monday and Thursday evenings from 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.  Dates will be updated periodically, based on school schedule.  If schools are closed, due to inclement weather conditions, all evening programs are automatically cancelled.  You can call the weather hotline at (973) 470-5680 after 4:00 p.m.

12:00 AM - 11:59 PM    Scarecrow Building Contest - Scarecrow Building Contest
Work together as a family to create a scarecrow at home. Scarecrows must be dropped off between Saturday, October 18th - Tuesday, October 21st at the Clifton City Hall Municipal Complex.  A sign will be displayed along Linzenbold Ave. with your family name for your designated drop-off station. Judging will take place between Wednesday, October 22nd - Thursday October 23rd. Winners will be notified by telephone and email.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and will be available for pick-up at the HarvestFest on Sunday, October 26th, at 2:00 pm by the stage or in the office the following week.  Pre-registration online is required a www.cliftonrec.com.  The registration deadline is Friday, October 17th by 2:00 pm. Once everyone is registered, participants will receive an email closer to the display date with instructions as to their family's assigned location for the scarecrow drop-off. Scarecrows will be on display through the following week after judging has concluded.  Please do not remove your scarecrow until at least Monday, November 3rd.  Any remaining scarecrows after Friday, November 7th will be discarded. Please Note:* Registration deadline is Friday, October 17th by 2:00 p.m.* Scarecrows must be displayed by Tuesday, October 21st, to   be judged. * The contest is FREE to enter and open to CLIFTON   RESIDENTS ONLY! * Please only register 1 person in your family to participate.Contest Rules:* Scarecrow height should be at a minimum of 4 ft. to a maximum of 7 ft.* Each entry must be able to stand on its own with all ornamentation firmly   attached.* Display pole must fit into a pre-existing 1 ¼ - 1 ½ round ground sleeve (pre-   existing pipe is 1 foot deep into the ground). We recommend using a 1 inch PVC   pipe for the body.* When dropping off your completed scarecrow you must park in the City Hall   parking lots on the premise. DO NOT park on Linzenbold Ave. to drop off your   scarecrow at your assigned location.* Rubber, plastic, and store-bought masks are not permitted.* Sharp and flammable objects are not permitted (i.e. pitch forks, tiki torches   etc.)* Human or mechanical scarecrows are not permitted.* Scarecrows should be created with a family-oriented theme in mind and should   not reflect any social, political, religious or controversial themes.* This is a family event. 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM    Halloween Parade, Costume Contest and HarvestFest - HarvestFest
SUNDAY OCTOBER 26, 2025HALLOWEEN PARADE & COSTUME CONTEST:The parade, featuring the Clifton Mustang Marching Band, will begin at 12:15 p.m. sharp and proceed down Van Houten Ave. to the City Hall Municipal Complex (900 Clifton Avenue). There is NO pre-registration or online registration for the costume contest. All individuals wishing to participate in contest must be at their designated corners between 11:30 - 12:00 p.m. to register.  Participants must be registered before the parade begins to be eligible for the contest judging. Costumes will be judged in the following categories: Ages 0 – 3, Ages 4 – 5, Ages 6 – 8, Ages 9 – 12, Teens & Adults, Pets and Floats & Families (2-6 people).  Groups/organizations that would like to march in the parade should contact the Recreation Department at (973) 470-5956. Participants can only be in 1 category per costume – either individually, by age category, or as a family in the family category. Take a journey on our hayride and make a harvest craft as you explore the many carnival booths, rides, and food concessions.  Games and rides range in price from $.25 - $2.00.  Cash Only! There is no ATM on site.  Black tokens are for games and Green tokens are for rides. Enter our 23rd Annual Apple-Pie Baking Contest at the City Hall Municipal Complex-900 Clifton Ave. Pre-registration online is required.  Drop off your pies at the HarvestFest between 1:00 - 1:30 pm (table will be set-up in the parking lot behind the Clifton Animal Shelter).  Winners will be announced between 2:00 – 2:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top three pies (grocery store cash cards) as well as consolation gifts for all entries.   Please include a list of ingredients on an index card for your apple pie entry.  This is an amateur baking contest. Join the Clifton Recreation Department for some shopping, apples and fun.  Peddler’s Village in Lahaska, PA has something for everyone: from 70 specialty shops and six restaurants to Giggleberry Fair family entertainment center.  Participate in the apple festival featuring scrumptious apple treats and take home a bushel fresh from the orchard. Live entertainment, children's activities, and drink & food specials add to the festivities of this traditional autumn celebration that has become one of the most popular events in the greater Philadelphia region. The cost is $22.00 per person, which includes transportation.  Meals are not included and are on the participant's own time during the day (please note that Earls and the Cock & Bull restaurant require advanced reservations).  Shopping is at your own expense (please note some vendors are cash only). Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Bus departs from the Lester Herrschaft Center (Senior Center) parking lot located at Linzenbold Drive and Dog Pound Road. There will be a pre-trip meeting at 8:15 a.m. in the Senior Center.  Buses will leave at 8:30 a.m. sharp and return approximately 6:45 - 7:00 p.m. (you must report back at the bus promptly at 5:00 p.m. for departure from Peddlers Village). Participants will be transported by school bus. Seating is limited. Register online or at the Recreation Office. Online registration ends 10/30/25 or earlier if the bus is filled. Please only add members of your household to your account. Additional registrants are required to make their own individual accounts.
