Introduction to Puppetry Register View Cart

In this puppet program, participants will meld both creation and performance. The class will be interactive, and include storytelling, dramatics, music, movement, art making, puppet building, and performance.  Participants will take imaginative theme-based explorations to explore characters, creatures, and habitats that live in this realm. Projects will include paper craft, mask-mime movement, improvisation, shadow puppets, hand puppets, and voice exploration as it relates to character development. Participants will create simple set design elements, and practice puppet mouth control, puppet turn-taking, and synchronized movement.  Participants will also identify tempo and create rhythm patterns. Through building and utilizing our puppets, we will strengthen fine and gross motor movement skills. Participants will be strengthening observational skills by finding basic shapes in the objects we are replicating both physically and artistically. Participants will explore character traits and how they relate to different emotions and gain a basic understanding of body language.  By the end of the course, students will have a collection of puppets and ideas about how they can utilize them.  Pre-registration is required. Instruction by: Mandi Bevando, Dabbling Brook.  Limit is 10 per class.
