It doesn’t matter if you use a cell phone, an old Kodak Instamatic, or an expensive DSLR camera, you can learn tricks and techniques on how to take better pictures, even if you have used cameras for more than 50 years! “Take Better Pictures” is a FREE three-session workshop intended for senior citizens who are casual picture takers. This workshop is not camera or phone-specific. We will concentrate on understanding what makes a good photograph, how to avoid common mistakes, and recognize good composition, all before clicking the shutter. The second session will deal with best practices when taking “Portraits”. We’ll discuss how to avoid family photo disasters. The best ways to engage your audience, and what you need to consider when taking Formal, Informal, Casual, and Impromptu Portraits. The advantages of natural and artificial lighting will be discussed along with the best techniques for photographing individuals, groups, children, and animals. Finally, we’ll examine Street Photography and Self-Portraits using a Selfie Stick. The final session of the workshop will include basic editing techniques on your iPhone, Android smartphone, or computer. We will start session three with a quick introduction to Google Photos (Android) and Photos (iPhone). From here we can upload, sort, and categorize any uploaded images from our phone or camera. Our goal is to create a secure place in the “Cloud” to access our photos from any location you have Internet access. Once uploaded we will demonstrate how to share images with family, friends, or social media platforms. Lastly, we’ll see how to do some very basic post-processing editing in Google Photos including: “Cropping”, “Straightening”, and Converting an Image to “Black and White”. Pre-registration is required. Instruction by: Steve Kehayes. Limit is 12 per class.
