Calling all youth ages 11-14 to join the latest sports craze to hit the courts. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America with players' age ranging from 9-95 years old. A hybrid of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong, it is played on a court the size of a badminton court and uses a paddle and plastic ball much like a wiffle ball. Participants will begin to learn the fundamentals of how to play pickleball, basic strokes of pickleball, controlling the balls, serves and return of serves, scoring, and actual game plays during this camp. A tournament amongst the campers will be conducted at the end of the two-week session during camp. Paddles and balls will be provided by the Recreation Department. The program will run Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks. Fridays will be used if needed for weather-related make-ups. Participants must bring water daily to camp and wear sneakers (NO CROCS). Pre-registration online is required. Instruction by: Leonard Hutabarat, PPR Certified Pickleball Coach. Limit is 8 per camp.
